Community Events/Festivals

Sometimes the best way to experience a destination is through the festivals and events inspired by the heritage and natural surroundings of the area. Quinte West hosts a number of events year-round that distinctly celebrate the joys of the season and the area's longstanding connection to land and water.

Here is just a sampling of community events planned for this year:

Frostfest

When: February 3-4  2012
Where: Batawa Community Centre and Batawa Ski HIll
What: Night skiing for $15.00 plus HST at Batawa Ski Hill.  Andie Forgie, petting zoo, a giant inflatable, Trenton Twirlers , Arts & Crafts, outdoor skating. Click here for poster. 

Half Marathon

When: Sunday, April 29, 2012
Where: City Hall Parking Lot
What: Quinte West Healthy Half Marathon in support of the Trenton Memeorial Hospital Foundation.  Events include: 1/2 Marathon walk/run, 10km walk/run, 5km walk/run, children's walk/run.  Route begins and ends at City Hall parking lot. Register online, at City Hall, and Tri and Run Sports.  $40 per runner/walker.  We encourage everyone to register prior to race day.

Canada Day

When: Sunday, July 1st, 2012
Where: Centennial Park
What: Come and celebrate Canada's birthday in Centennial Park, Trenton.  All day entertainment, activities for children and families, and a spectacular fireworks display.  Hang around and watch an outdoor movie on a giant inflatable screen.

Frankford Riverfest

When: May 19, 2012
Where: Frankford Tourist Park
What: A day of family fun on Saturday May 19st, 2012. Beach volleyball, midway fair, strongman competition, live entertainment, vendors and spectacular fireworks display!

Barks By The Bay Canine Festival & Trade Show

When: May 26, 2012
Where: Centennial Park
What: Annual canine festival held the last Saturday in May, showcasing many unique breeds, canine accessories, training aids, and techniques. Demonstrations all day, including High Flying Canines and the Ultimate Air Dogs Canada! Every dog has its day at Barks by the Bay!

Big Band Festival

When: Sunday July 22, 2012

Where: Centennial Park, Trenton

What: The City of Quinte West is introducing a brand new festival for 2012! Sunday July 22^nd will mark the first ever Big Band Festival held in Centennial Park, Trenton and will boast some of the best names in Big Band Music, including the Brian Barlow Big Band, The Commodores, and Swing Shift. In addition to the music, swing dancers will be performing and festival goers will have the opportunity to dance the afternoon away. Food will also be available onsite. Tickets for this event are on sale now, $15 in advance or $20 at the gate, and can be purchased at Quinte West City Hall, Riverside Music in Trenton and Pinnacle Music Studios in Belleville.

Trenton Scottish Irish Festival

When: September 7 - 8, 2012
Where: Centennial Park
What: This annual festival celebrates the Celtic ancestry of the Bay of Quinte through traditional music, games, and fare.  Take in the Friday night tatoo and revel with fellow festival-goers to the professional pipers and drummers and end-of-the day ceilidhs.

Christmas Fantasy of Lights

When: Last Saturday in November 2012 to January 2, 2013
Where: Fraser Park Trenton and Frankford Tourist Park
What: Tour these magical waterfront light displays while listening to favourite holiday carols.
